About crisol guzman-corral
My name is Crisol Guzman-Corral and I am an official candidate running for Representative-at-Large on CUSG. I am a First-Generation undergraduate student in the pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish.
I was born and raised in the 303. Moved around quite a bit until the 3rd grade where my family moved to Brighton, Colorado and have lived there ever since. I attend Brighton High School where thanks to extra-curriculars and the support and trust of my community I was able to gain a multitude of leadership experiences and community service opportunities.
I am definitely not a “fit” person, but I do enjoy a lovely hike or a sick soccer game. I also enjoy being able to be involved in the community and I am always looking for opportunities to help those who need it.
This candidacy means a lot more to me than just a CUSG candidacy. As a first-generation student, the imposter syndrome that creeps over me daily as I am doing my schoolwork or planning my school activities is very draining. This goal of this ticket is to improve the college experience of first-generation students, students of color, students from lower economic backgrounds, students who never thought they would be here, students who are currently here but feel like they don’t belong here, and students who have made it this far and want to give up.
I believe that you should vote for me for Representative-at-Large because I offer perspective, emotion, experience, and the will to make a change. When I attended Brighton High School, I was the president of League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) which is a nationwide organization. At my high school, it was not being well represented or treated equally. I spoke to administration monthly working on equality for our club as compared to others and I can proudly say I left LULAC with a place in my heart because I knew that I made a change. Additionally, I was President, Vice President, and Committee Chairperson for multiple clubs and organizations throughout high school as well as at the Boys and Girls Club where I gained experience in the areas of leadership, communication, and advocacy.
This candidacy was made in efforts to create a college experience where students can be included, safe, appreciated, and admired for their hard work and their dedication to make a change in the world. This candidacy was made for students like YOU.
