About luca raso

Hey Buffs, my name is Luca Raso, and I am currently a freshman majoring in English Literature and Philosophy and minoring in Italian.

I grew up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota and attended Wayzata High School. In high school, I was a senior captain for my Cross Country team, varsity skier on the Nordic Skiing team, and I also ran distance events in Track and Field. Outside of sports, I was a Link Crew Leader, helping transfer students with their transition to my high school. I was also an attorney for my school’s Mock Trial team.

For hobbies, I love to run out on the trails, ski with my friends, read classic literature, and write. I had recently started to train for a trail marathon this summer, planning to run across the Mesa Trail and back.

Here at CU, I am currently the co-editor of the Honors Program magazine, the Honors Buff, as well as a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. For the Honors Buff, I write informative and creative content, sending it out to the entire Honors Program in efforts to help connect the community during this time of social distancing. I had recently joined the CU chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, an international law fraternity, where I am a part of a community of fellow aspiring law students. Despite the difficulties that the pandemic has caused, it has been incredibly important for me to get involved with our school and make connections with my peers, hence why I am running for a Representative-at-Large seat this spring!

Coming into CU last fall, I, along with all of the other first years, had to deal with many uncertainties. Would we get sent home early, would our tuition and fees change, and how would the administration enforce Covid-19 guidelines and protect our student body. Many of these uncertainties have been aggravated by faulty and inconsistent communication from the administration and the leadership at our university.

What my intention is, as a candidate for student government, is to find a way to improve communication and transparency between the administration and the student body. As a writer and co-editor for a magazine sent out to 1400 students, I have had first-hand experience with the presentation of information and the process of distributing it. I know what it’s like to be on the sending and receiving ends of communication at a university. During uncertain times and even during more certain times, the student body needs to be able to have confidence, assurance, and security with the information they receive from the school.

As a Representative-At-Large, I will work with the student government and the administration to improve efforts for reliability, consistency, and transparency within the scope of communication.
