MAtthew Logan
My name is Matthew Logan and I am running to be your Representative-at-Large for CU Student Government! I am a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a double-minor in Communications and History, with a desire to study law here at CU.
I was born in Sterling, Colorado, and raised in Canon City, Colorado. As a native Coloradoan, becoming a Buff and falling in love with the CU Boulder community was a dream come true, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an incredible and prominent academic institution that fosters opportunity, growth, and success.
I am heavily involved in extracurricular activities here at CU. As a member of the BuffSports Live team, I help write, film and produce weekly sports stories about CU athletics, where I deliver the Buff Banter segment on our episodes. As a proud member of CU Gold, I have learned how to enhance my leadership skills, better develop relationships, and foster the ability to work more efficiently with my peers to achieve common goals and overcome obstacles and various challenges. As a devoted CU Political Science Club member, I have been able to engage with political enthusiasts and exercise my passion for politics at CU and throughout the country and abroad. As an avid runner and someone who loves to exercise, I enjoy playing intramural soccer and participating in sports activities both on and off-campus.
I am running to be your Representative-at-Large for CU Student Government because I believe I am the right leader and best candidate to achieve tangible reform, cultivate ideas and solutions, and represent your interests. As your representative, I am driven to achieve these following
initiatives: First, expand university outreach and make student organizations, clubs and jobs more attainable, marketable, and accessible for students. The transition into college can be strenuous and debilitating, and I believe from experience that students need better and easier ways to engage with their school and community. Second, increasing safety on and off-campus. Too frequently are students put in dangerous and threatening situations, or are consistent victims of crime. I will implement projects to reduce bike theft, promote nighttime ride-sharing services, increase funding for security resources, and more. Third, promote and champion social justice. I believe it is important for our university to empower the voices of minority students, embrace their diversity and perspectives when creating policy and mandates, and strive to contribute to societal reform. As your representative, I also seek to tackle issues of infrastructure by improving air conditioning quality in CU’s dormitories, and apply greater accountability on CU’s administrative policies that affect students. To learn more about my platform, visit my campaign profile on Instagram, @matthewlogan.cusg, or feel free to reach out to me through my email at malo3714@colorado.edu.
As your representative, I will work tirelessly to improve your college experience, represent your interests, and tackle the issues we face here at CU. Vote for Matthew Logan as your Representative-at-Large for CU Student Government!
